VERVE DANCE COMPANY

  • VERVE WELCOME LETTER
Welcome to The Verve! We are so pleased that you have decided to include us in your creative journey. Below we wanted to spend some time introducing ourselves to you, going over the schedule of the classes (overall), as well as breaking down our pricing, and highlighting some of our policies and procedures. The Verve was birthed from a need that we saw in this great community, as well as from a passion (and profession) that Aaron Coulson has cultivated over the last 30 years. Aaron not only teaches all of the classes within the company, but he brings unique professional experience to every aspect of the Verve. We are getting our start in a newly renovated space, where each element has been selected with intention and purpose. We wanted to create a space where all would feel welcome, regardless of history, background, or experience. Our mantra is “Inspiration, Integrity, Innovation”. We strive to make each of these a part of all that we do, whether at our home base, or in the community. The mission of The Verve is to help you become what you were made to be. It is incredibly humbling to know that you have seen something special in us, and have chosen us. Thank you! Here at The Verve, we work on a 2 semester Company Year. The 2nd semester is a continuation of the 1st. At the end of both semesters we will celebrate our achievements with a recital. The Fall/Winter semester runs 15 classes from Sept 9th to Christmas Break on Dec 23rd. The Winter/Spring semester runs 15 classes from January 6th to May 4Th, “Recital week”. We know that living in Upstate NY there inclement weather, and historically other dance companies follow the public school closing/cancellation/delay list. Although our goal is to keep everyone safe, we would like to keep the studio open as much as possible. In our experience, we have seen a public school cancellation for a “nor'easter” and nothing comes. So to avoid this, we will be announcing our closings no later than 3PM on the days that classes are held. As always, we expect that you will use your own good judgement, and make the decision that is best for you and your family. Ultimately, we know the end of the year gets crazy, and we want to alleviate any added classes that would conflict with Spring Summer plans that we all know come! Along with the Christmas break, we have built in some designated time for rest and rejuvenation. We do know lives exist outside of The VERVE, and these built in breaks will allow for some much needed time, which does not take away from either of the 15 sessions that are allocated to each semester. Winter break will run February 17-February 21st, and Spring break will run April 13-April 17th. At The VERVE, the cost for each company class is $177 per semester. We do offer ballroom classes and sign language classes, which run based on a 6-week series, and those classes are each $60 per six week session. Our performance class “AC Entertainers”, is $200 per semester, as this Company will be traveling and performing throughout the year. Prior to being enrolled in this class, all members must audition. We encourage our members to enroll in as many classes as they are interested, and so offer a “mulit-class discount” of 10% off the total. Payment of semester tuition is due in full within 7 days of enrollment/start of the semester (regarding 2nd semester returning members). We chose a 2 semester payment plan to help offset the burden of paying for a whole year when everything else in life seems to be starting too, as well as eliminate the hassle of taking payments at each class. We do not charge a registration fee, as many companies do, however we do require that a uniform be purchased and worn/maintained during classes. This also ensures that you are meeting the dress code standards here at The VERVE. Below is the cost per class breakdown, as well as an example of your savings with the multi-class discount. Enroll in a single dance company class: $177 dollars. Each class cost, $11.80.
